Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) became the Asia West Champion in the World Final ICPC Moscow 2021. The International Collegiate Programming Contest, known as the ICPC, is an annual multi-tiered competitive programming competition among the universities of the world. It is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world. The contestants of the BUET team named 'BUET HellBent' were Arghya Pratim Pal (CSE, 15), H M Ashiqul Islam (EEE, 15), and Pritom Kundu (CSE, 16). The coach of the team was Prof. Mohammad Sohel Rahman of the CSE department. BUET team ranked 28th over the world.
The programming teams from BUET have enormous success in various national and international programming contests. The BUET team regularly participated in the prestigious world final of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) starting from 1998 and ranked better than many top universities worldwide.
