CSE FEST 2026 is an annual event organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). The festival aims to foster technical excellence, creativity, and collaborative learning among students through a diverse set of academic, technical, and cultural activities. Spanning multiple days, CSE FEST 2026 includes competitions such as programming contests, hackathons, cybersecurity challenges, game development competitions, and interactive events, along with cultural programs and award ceremonies. The event provides a platform for students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios, engage with peers from different institutions, and showcase their technical and creative talents while promoting innovation and teamwork within the CSE community. The events are listed below:

1. Inauguration:

The festival was formally inaugurated by the Head of the CSE Department in the presence of esteemed faculty members and students. The inauguration ceremony marked the official commencement of the festival.

2. Treasure Hunt

The Treasure Hunt event of CSE FEST 2026 is designed to promote problem-solving skills, teamwork, and logical thinking among participants. Teams compete by solving a series of carefully crafted clues, puzzles, and technical challenges distributed across designated locations within the BUET campus. Each successfully solved task unlocks the next clue, gradually guiding teams toward the final objective.

The challenges are designed to test participants’ analytical ability, coding and technical knowledge, observation skills, and adaptability under time pressure. Throughout the event, teams must collaborate effectively, communicate clearly, and make quick yet strategic decisions to stay ahead of their competitors.

By blending intellectual challenges with exploration and excitement, the Treasure Hunt creates a fun and engaging environment that encourages creative thinking, healthy competition, and active participation. The event aims not only to entertain but also to foster a spirit of innovation, camaraderie, and enthusiasm for problem-solving among aspiring computer science enthusiasts.

3. Hackathon

The Hackathon is a full-day competitive programming and development event where participants work in teams to design and implement innovative software solutions within a limited time frame. The event challenges students to apply their knowledge of algorithms, data structures, system design, and software engineering principles to address real-world or research-oriented problems.

Throughout the event, participants engage in brainstorming, rapid prototyping, and iterative development while managing time and resources effectively. Experienced mentors are available to provide guidance, technical insights, and feedback, helping teams refine their ideas and overcome implementation challenges.

Projects are evaluated by a panel of judges based on originality, problem relevance, functionality, scalability, and technical depth. The Hackathon fosters creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning, encouraging participants to push their limits and transform ideas into impactful solutions under competitive conditions.

4. Cyber Security Competition

The Cyber Security Competition focuses on enhancing awareness and practical skills related to information security. Participants face challenges such as vulnerability analysis, cryptography, network security, and ethical hacking scenarios. The event aims to develop analytical thinking and defensive security skills while promoting responsible and ethical practices in cybersecurity.

5.  Game Development Competition

The Game Development Competition provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate creativity and technical proficiency in interactive application development. Participants design and develop games focusing on gameplay mechanics, graphics, and user experience. The event encourages innovation in game design while applying programming concepts, graphics handling, and real-time logic implementation.

6. IUPC

The Inter-University Programming Contest (IUPC) was one of the major technical events of CSE FEST 2026. Teams from various universities participated in the contest, competing to solve a set of challenging algorithmic and problem-solving tasks within a fixed time limit. The event tested participants’ skills in data structures, algorithms, logical reasoning, and efficient coding under pressure. The IUPC encouraged teamwork, competitive programming culture, and knowledge exchange among students from different institutions, contributing significantly to the technical spirit of the festival.

7. Acoustic Night

The Acoustic Night held at the ECE premises was a cultural event organized as part of CSE FEST 2026. The program featured live acoustic music performances by students, creating a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. Faculty members also attended the event, which provided an opportunity for cultural expression and social interaction beyond academic activities. The Acoustic Night contributed to the overall festive spirit of the event and promoted camaraderie within the university community. The CSE wing of the ECE building was elegantly decorated, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the program.
