Course Name: Oracle 19c Database Management and Administration

Introduction

The Database Management and Administration (DMA) course using Oracle Database 19c, offered by the Bangladesh-Korea Information Access Center (BK-IAC), is an essential course for professionals aiming to build a strong foundation in Oracle, the industry's most advanced database management system. The course emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice, ensuring participants are well-equipped for real-world database management challenges.

Objectives
  • To develop skills for efficiently managing and administering Oracle databases.
  • To equip participants with the expertise needed to work with Oracle’s advanced information systems, leading to better career opportunities.
  • To prepare professionals for Oracle certifications such as Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) and Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).

  • Gain a thorough understanding of the Oracle database architecture and its components.
  • Install and maintain Oracle databases.
  • Create, manage, and monitor operational databases efficiently.
  • Learn performance monitoring, database security, user management, and backup/recovery techniques.
  • Develop foundational and advanced skills in SQL and PL/SQL programming.
  • Control privileges, manage users and roles, and use advanced querying techniques.
Prerequisite

Participants should have a basic understanding of relational databases and programming concepts. Prior experience with SQL is beneficial but not mandatory. This course begins with Oracle SQL fundamentals and gradually advances to more complex topics.

Tentative Class Schedule

The course length will be 8 weeks with two classes in each week and 3 hours in each class. The tentative lecture plan of the course is as follows:

8Dicussion and Final Exam
Learning and Evaluation Method
  • Classes will be conducted in a multimedia-equipped environment.
  • Course materials and lecture notes will be provided electronically.
  • Classes will be led by two faculty members from the Department of CSE, BUET.
  • Each participant will be provided with a dedicated PC for hands-on practice.
  • A final examination will be held at the end of the course.
  • Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate.
