Md Shariful Islam Bhuyan is working as an Associate Professor of Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. Engineering degree from Department of CSE, BUET in 2006 and 2008 respectively. He also has a second M.Sc. degree in the field of computational biology from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia.  He is currently pursuing PhD in Computer Science at Columbia University, New York, USA. His research area includes machine learning, computational biology, natural language processing and combinatorial algorithm. He is an alumnus of Faujdarhat Cadet College, Chittagong.
