BUET at ACM ICPC Regional Contest 2006:

ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), Asia Regional- Dhaka Site contest 2006 was hosted by North South University, Dhaka on the 23rd of September, 2006. According to the ACM ICPC rules, the champion team of a regional contest automatically qualifies to participate at the ACM ICPC Wold Finals in the next year. In some cases, the runner-up team is also allowed to participate in the world finals.

In this year’s regional contest of Dhaka site, teams from home and abroad participated. A total of 10 problems were set out to be solved in five hours. BUET teams lived up to their expectation in this contest, even though the odds were very narrow due to their term final academic exams on the same day. BUET teams occupied three of the top ten positions, including the runner-up position. "Yin-Yang", the team from Fudan University, China emerged as the champion, solving 8 problems. BUET team "xC33d" became the runner-up solving 6 problems. BUET xC33d team members were: Istiaque Ahmed (Level-4, Term-1, CSE), Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman (Level-3, Term-2, EEE), Sabbir Yousuf Sanny (Level-3, Term-2, EEE) and coach- Mohammad Tanvir Irfan (Lecturer, Dept of CSE, BUET).
