Professors Saidur Rahman and Sohel Rahman of CSE, BUET Appointed to Prestigious Roles in UGC and PSC
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) is excited to announce the appointment of two of its distinguished professors to two of the most prestigious commissions in Bangladesh.
Dr. Md. Saidur Rahman, a renowned faculty member of the CSE, BUET been appointed as a member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. This prestigious appointment, effective from December 8, 2024, will see Dr. Rahman serve for a four-year term. Known for his significant contributions to graph algorithms, Dr. Rahman has published over 130 research papers in internationally recognized journals. He is also serving as an editor for several leading journals and as program committee members of renowned international conferences. His appointment to the UGC reflects his dedication to advancing the quality of higher education in Bangladesh.
In another momentous development, Dr. M. Sohel Rahman, a respected professor of CSE, BUET, has been appointed as a member of the Public Service Commission (PSC) of Bangladesh. Dr. Rahman took the oath of office on November 6, 2024, alongside three other newly appointed members. With over 22 years of academic experience, Dr. Rahman has been recognized as an ACM Distinguished Speaker and has contributed greatly to the development of computing and technology in the region. His appointment to the PSC is a significant milestone in his career and a testament to his extensive experience and dedication to public service.
Both of these appointments highlight the exceptional caliber of faculty at CSE, BUET and their ongoing contributions to education and public service.
